Who is UNGER MEDIA?

UNGER MEDIA focuses on global content with a purpose, bridging imagination with impact in every story we tell. We are industry disruptors, believing in the power of storytelling and how it can not only connect us, but also change the way we view the world. What matters most to us is not only entertaining audiences and making them think, but ultimately making people feel seen. With deep relationships across scripted, non-scripted, documentary, music, publishing and audio visual/podcast genres, we continue to actively create stories that reflect groundbreaking voices that deserve to be heard.

Some of our collaborators include LeVar Burton Entertainment, Robin Roberts' Rock'n Robin, Marcia Gay Harden, ATTN:, Blumhouse, 20th Television, Peabody Winner Timothy Ware-Hill, Music Legends Yolanda Adams and Rickey Minor, amongst others. Current series include the new podcast series “Shattering The System”, in collaboration with MACRO and iHeartPodcasts, which is hosted by NPR acclaimed journalist Sonari Glinton, Tastemade series “The Unruly Baker” with World renowned Author and Cake Artist Bernadette Gee, and acclaimed NZ indie film “Mysterious Ways”, by Award-winning UK Director Paul Oremland. Recently, Unger Media announced adaptations of “Never Forget Eleanor” by New York Times Best-selling Author Jason June, along with a film adaptation of “The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens”, based on the iconic “Grey Gardens” documentary.

Content comes in all forms, but our motivation is to make a difference and the world a better place with everything we create, constantly pushing to shine a light on underrepresented audiences. While we not only collaborate with giants of the industry, we also cultivate and mentor those who are growing in front of and behind the camera. Finding unique POVs and talent drive us everyday. At the end of the day, we believe that when creatives at every level are in it together, true magic happens.

With hundreds of television hours under his belt, CEO and Founder Jonathan Unger launched UNGER MEDIA in 2019 with a creative spirit, an eye for talent, and a desire to bring a fresh voice to Hollywood development and production. He wanted to create an entity that focuses on voices that need to be heard. UNGER MEDIA was created to change lives and break the status quo. Jonathan’s creativity is inspired and driven by his heart, and this newest chapter in his career is proving no different. With a laser focus on content with a purpose to inspire, reflect the cultural tapestry of the world today, and spark the dreamer in all of us, UNGER MEDIA has several projects in active development across scripted, nonfiction and podcast genres. We believe in the power of IP (fresh and classic), true collaboration, and the ability to bring people together through the stories we tell.

Across decades of industry experience, Jonathan's skill set and relationships have been cultivated over a wide spectrum of programming; from global tentpoles such as the Academy Awards and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest to dynamic character showcases like Coach Dianna Williams of Lifetime's hit series Bring It! and even family friendly formats such as FOX’s The Passion: Live and Netflix’s A Little Help with Carol Burnett. Working alongside the industry's finest creatives has allowed Jonathan to not only learn from the best, but also realize that a project is only as strong as its team.

But it all had to start somewhere. Jonathan has a keen eye for discovering relatable and authentic personalities from all walks of life, which he attributes to his early career when he got his start in reality casting. That experience honed Jonathan's gift of making anyone feel comfortable, learn from all walks of life, and exhilarated to work together. He's never met a stranger in his life and constantly looks forward to connecting with new auspices across the industry!
